Our historian, Ralph Krugler has spent four years researching this book. This labor of love is all self-funded by Ralph. He needs to sell this limited edition of 100 books to recover his money and fund the publishing of a final three-volume edition.
He has spent time digging through HLPS archives, USCG archives, US Lighthouse Society archives, National Archives in Maryland and St. Louis, Broward Co Library, historical societies (Miami, Pompano Beach, Ft Lauderdale, Deerfield Beach, Boca Raton, Delray Beach and Jupiter), various online historical/newspaper/genealogy sites, phone calls, email and face-to-face interviews with family and descendants of former keepers and other lighthouse historians.
This book covers more than just the lighthouse- details. Families of keepers, related topics (Houses of Refuge, Barefoot Mailman & lesser-known Florida west coast walked mail route, Florida pioneers who had a connection with the founding of the lighthouse, touches of local history sprinkled throughout
